Cookies!!

Preston had a rare treat today as he got into some of Tristan's chocolate cookies. As you can see, he loved them! Just a little mess, but he was pretty proud of himself!

Cake Decorating

This weekend I was hired to make the cake for a 50th anniversary party. While I was working on my cake, Tristan wanted to work on some frosting as well. She did a great job, but in the end I think she squeezed more in her mouth than on the paper or cake! I had wonderful flashbacks of decorating cakes at my grandmother's house. It is so much fun to be able to do these kinds of things with her now!

We got grass seed!

Today the kids and I went to Beaver, OK to pick up the 45lbs. of grass seed to plant our yard.
This has been years coming, but we hope that by the weekend the yard will be planted, and by August we will have a yard!
Beaver is famous for its cowchip (yes, cowchip) throwing contest. This is the giant beaver holding a cowchip that is in the parade every year. No, I haven't ever competed. The first time Matt ever came to the panhandle to visit me and meet my family I brought him to Beaver (which is where I was born) and took his picture. Now, eleven years (that's hard to believe) I am taking a picture of our children in front of the beaver!

I had a Babci moment

For those of you who don't know, a Babci moment is when you cry when something is sweet, precious, joyful, etc. This is happening more and more to me now that I am a mom.

As anyone who is around children knows, they are complete mimics of you. They imitate your mannerisms and repeat what you say. Last night as I was feeding Preston, Tristan had just gotten out of the bath and was walking around in her duck towel (being a duck princess). She came up to me and wiggled her little hand out to touch Preston's head. I said to her, "Isn't his head so soft?" To which she replied, "Yes, he's getting so much hair!" (Something that we have said often).
I also tend to call both my children angels. So in she goes to the kitchen to talk to daddy. "Preston is an angel," she tells daddy. "Yes," he says, "he is an angel." "He's an angel from Jesus," she says. Neither of us have ever said that, but she's right...he is an angel from Jesus. And yes, I'm tearing up as I type!

Bugs and Teeth

Today was a big day of garden shopping that ended up in me buying nothing, my sister buying a bunch of stuff, and me getting a bug stuck in my ear. For those of you who know me at all, the bug in the ear was nearly a trip to the hospital and definitely gave me the willies that I am still not over! While I was frantically trying to get the bug out of my hair/ear, Tristan was laughing hysterically like it was the funniest thing she had ever seen. Not so funny to mommy! After several attempts to get it out myself, I was pushing her in the stroller to get back to the car. Since both hands were on the stroller, I couldn't mess with my ear, and I guess it finally made its way out. Either that or it's dead in my ear. I choose to believe that it got out. There is nothing creepier that having your hand over your ear, but still hearing the buzzing and feeling it move around. I will probably have nightmares tonight!

The highlight of the day however was after we got back to my sister's house. I was tickling Preston upside down and lo and behold...both top teeth have broken through!!! I can officially say that he had four teeth by the time he was 10 months! He has been such a slobber face recently that we figured something must be going on, but we hadn't really checked in a while. Hooray for Preston!

Preston Stands

For a while now Preston will stand if he is holding my hands, but he will only pull up to his knees to play. However...today as I went in to get him after a nap, he greeted me with a big smile and stood up!!

He was a little pale and slept a lot today. I hope that he's not getting sick. If he is, you would never know it by the smile on his face. He may just be the happiest baby in the world. Lucky me!!

We finally joined in!

Okay, so being new to this blogging thing, and really not believing that our lives are interesting enough to be kept online for the world to see....this may be pretty boring! But, I am loving keeping up with our extended families blogs, so hopefully they will enjoy keeping up with ours.

I feel like I send a million pictures already, but maybe this will be a better way for me to actually explain what is happening in some of the pics and keep up with people that I don't get to talk to that often! Hooray for Taryn and Jacob for starting the ball rolling with the blogs!

It's already midnight (which is about the only time I have no interruptions) so I'll sign off for now. I'll try pictures and stuff later. Tristan's dance class is at 9:00 tomorrow morning, which is early for us to be out and about, so I'd better get to bed. By the way, if the fact that Preston is now turning the light on and off in the Fisher Price House, and Tristan's favorite phrase is "Mom, what's (blank) anyway?" (Fill in the blank with trees, grass, ants, spiders, etc.), then you should not visit our blog. This is probably as exciting as it gets! Funny how this is the life I dreamed of and am loving every minute of it!! :)
