Homecoming Parade

Last week Matt was on his fancy trip to Miami, FL, with his sister, Amanda, and her friend Desha, so I had the kids all to myself for three days! It really went great! Tristan decided to sleep all night in her own bed, and Preston decided to love me and get up at 8:00 instead of 6:00. Yea for me!! We had fun, but we were all happy when Daddy got home on Friday night!
Last week was also homecoming for Booker. The kids and I braved the festivities by ourselves. Now, for those of you who don't know, taking two kids by yourself to functions is a little tricky sometimes, but we made it! On Thursday Tristan and I walked to the high school to pick up bierox for everyone. It's a tradition on homecoming week for the junior class to have a bierox supper as a fundraiser. For those who don't know, bierox are a mixture of cabbage and seasoned meat wrapped in dough. It's a local german food, and they are delicious when made right! After dinner, Aunt Stephanie went with us to the burning of the letters pep rally. It was at the football field at dusk, and both kids really enjoyed the cheerleaders and band!

On Friday we went to the queen coronation. Tristan loved all the pretty dresses. As each candidate would come out she would say, "It's beautiful!! Just like at Disney World!" (I think she was referring to the princess lunch we attended.) After the coronation was the parade. It was much hotter than it should be for the end of September, but they both enjoying watching the floats go by. Tristan really liked catching candy!! The pictures are from the parade. Preston is sharing goldfish with Hagen Chisum, a friend of ours!

Football!

This past Friday was the first home game for Booker. The kids and I got spirited up and went to the pep rally in the afternoon. I had another Babci moment as I sat there in the gym with my little cheerleader and future football player. As they both clapped to the fight song (which I still remember the cheer motions to!) and we sang the alma mater, I just couldn't stop tearing up a little! Tristan was a little worried that the Kiowa mascot was going to bother her, but other than that it was wonderful!

That night we all went to the game with Aunt Stephanie. When the sun went down, it was a little chilly. We even had hot chocolate! We walked from our house to the game. It was a wonderful night!

Princess Birthday

Like every labor day weekend, we had a house full of family to celebrate Tristan's birthday. I can't believe that she is three!!! My how time flies! My sister and I decorated her castle and princess cakes. Tristan loved them!

We had a great weekend with lots of food, family, and fun! Tristan had a party with her friends at our house on Saturday morning. Then, that afternoon we went up to the city pool for a swim party with just the family.
Tristan pretended to be a mermaid and splashed with Noah. Preston splashed for a bit and then took turns eating ice with Grandad and letting Babci and Grandma feed him sandwiches. Life is good! It's so nice to have everyone together once a year. If anyone from the NE or NC wanted to come they would always be invited!

It's Finished!

I meant to get the pictures up several weeks ago, but I've been a little busy planning a party weekend! On the 24th I finally finished the playground! Since this picture we've added a couple of steering wheels, a telescope and some swings.

I did have some help from time to time, but this has mostly been my project. I was so proud as I watched all the kids at Tristan's party climbing and playing all over last weekend! Preston is my angel, so he posed for a picture, but Tristan wouldn't!
